if ever
you struggle with the lies
that the world hands to you
as a mommy---
remember
that
in the middle of
wiping bums,
teaching your child about autumn,
explaining fog,
cleaning crumbs,
asking forgiveness,
getting hugs from your child,
working through sin,
eating donuts and talking together,
receiving flowers picked from your flower pot,
cleaning many a puzzle piece,
library trips,
smiles,
kisses,
tears,
wrapping presents,
riding scooters together...
...that it wasn't insignificant.
it did make a difference in the world.
what you do daily is huge.
the books read,
the floor swept together,
the lunches enjoyed.
sometimes this "career" makes a bigger impact in the world
than we realize.
the loss of sleep,
the unwashed hair some days,
the routine of cleaning,
the joy of growth and obedience,
seeing compassion and encouragement in your child's actions...
this "job",
menial to the world
is more significant
and meaningful
than the feeling that you are "giving back".
because,
in the biggest way,
you are.
because you are
giving
to a soul
who will someday
step out
into that big world.
one foot
at
a
time.
