Quotes that move me

"You will never find Jesus so precious as when the world is one vast howling wilderness.  Then he is like a rose blooming in the midst of the desolation, a rock rising above the storm."

Rooted

Being "rooted" has been the has been the resounding theme of my heart and soul recently.  I have meditated upon the subject with friends, and learned the importance of the Lord making my "roots" firm in Him through walking with Him and listening to Him (reading His Word).

It's suddenly become so much clearer that every ounce of my being should ache, desire, yearn and ask God to sink my roots down deep into solid ground.  When the storms hit, yea, when they toss my little leaves and twiggy arms around, He will keep me rooted in His firm foundation.  I treasure those storms, because they cause my roots to dig deeper and they test the strength of my "trunk" in that ground.  And by God's grace, by His mercy, not of my own, I pray that I may be rooted by the streams, like in Psalm 1.

I have made shirts with this word, I have called my business on Etsy "Rooted Studios".  I have spoken with friends and been encouraged about our status about being rooted in Christ...and staying rooted in Christ.   ...And then I received this necklace.  Beth and Tony made this necklace for me. (On Tony's "defense" so you all don't think he is a "jewelry maker", he did the "metal work" with Beth.) I am so thankful for friends who would go through the trouble to make this- -this "heart theme" for me that I can bind around my neck proudly.

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
Colossians 2:6-7

Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.
But his delight is in the law of the LORD
and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.

Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

Psalm 1
